Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What an interesting morning – I happened to be outside when the storm, ever so quickly passed by and it was quite impressive i know that I am a little center of left, but I like watching ‘weather’ happen in ways that display the God who is always in control. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal to you the ways that He is in control of the events surrounding your life and that He is watching over all your comings and goings because He is very aware of you.
I was reading a Mom sharing a story of when her ten year old boy decided that he was going to run away from home and go “north” – he told his parents at the breakfast table that nothing exciting was happening at home. He stated that if he didn’t do it now he might never do it. So he packed his backpack and said goodbye and heading “north”. He, of course, did not go too far away before having lunch and a bit of a rest. He returned home and as he talked about his experience, he told his parents that he would have enjoyed it more if his bag had not been so heavy. His mother writes that she understood his comment all too well…she would enjoy her life journey more if her “bag’ was not so heavy. At this point I started to understand and empathise…one can get ‘burdened ‘ with many ‘heavy’ things like cares and concerns and responsibilities and regrets and expectations and….well, you know what I mean.
It is here that I appreciate the invitation of Jesus in Matthew 11:28 – Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear. Matthew 11:28-30 TPT.
I am drawn to another verse that complements the words of Jesus so well – …for our Lord is ever near…do not be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Philippians 4:5b-6a TPT. One thing I value about God is His consistency in dealing with people. He says to Abraham in Genesis 15:1 and to Hagar in Genesis 21:17 and to Isaac in Genesis 26:24 and to Joshua in Joshua 1:9 and the psalmist’s declaration in Psalm 118:6…I am near – I am close – don’t be afraid or discouraged.
So, this morning I have decided to not run away from home! However, if change my mind later on – my burdens won’t be too heavy! Have a grand day — be blessed!
