A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 19th Tuesday

Greetings to you on a beautiful September morning…and summer is almost beyond our grasp. However, his is still the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you have been enjoying God’s blessings¬† and growing in your relationship with Him. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with grace and peace through Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior…and that He would be your Jehovah Jireh – the One who provides you with all that you need just when you need it.

Yesterday, being Monday, our ‘intercessors’ met for prayer on behalf of our city-community with an awareness that God is at work in a variety of ways. However, I believe that those who gathered to pray were aware that God wants to do more…and so we listen for God’s direction – His leading. Yesterday, it seemed like God was wanting us to pray for the community of faith…and so we did as God gave us insight and fueled our thoughts. I believe that there are four particular¬†churches that God would have us pray for…and so we did – praying for pastors and leadership and for congregations.

As God moved, it seemed that we needed to pray for the wisdom to “steward” God’s presence in our own lives. I think that the content of those prayers can be summed up this way: keep us hungry, humble, and holy! And I have a sense that that prayer is not just for us but for all those who would experience God’s presence and would want to offer themselves to be used for God’s glory.

There is a prayer on my heart this morning…and it is expressed by these words, perhaps a little too graphic for some but here they are: “there are so many dead carcasses of Christians walking around who once burned for God, but they lost their fire and excitement…don’t let fear or earthly contentment, or anger, or offense, or any unwanted guest slip in…” – James Levesque, Engaging Heaven Today. “Father God, there are many one upon a time believers in You that need to experience your presence afresh – please let that happen in our city-community.”

Just something to ponder…be blessed!
