A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 26th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the wonderful, powerful, and beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom! Let us rejoice and be glad in ‘this’ day that God has prepared for us and let us discover the good things God has made available to us. I trust that you had a grand weekend and Monday … and are ready with expectation for the rest of this week. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to meet you in the midst of your questions, fears, and uncertainty to release the Presence that will assure you that all is well and that you are worthy of His love – accepted and approved.

Once again, we find ourselves “sheltering-in” with the disciples of Jesus, some 120 of them, as the wait for the coming of Holy Spirit-the promised Presence. The interesting thing to me is…they were waiting for ‘a someone’ or ‘a something’ that they had never experienced before. So, what were they expecting…what would he look like…how could be assured of the arrival? If only we could tell them…He looks like a ‘sound’! Or He looks like a pillar of fire with streamers of flames like ‘tongues’ that would reach out to them! Or He would look like a feeling of something inside you!

This week I have decided that each morning I would read Acts 2…and try to imagine myself there and experiencing it personally – for the very first time. I wonder if we have read the story or heard a sermon or two….but failed to let the event just happen within us. Wouldn’t it be awesome if for the rest of this week we could lay aside what we know with our accumulation of insights? Wouldn’t it be marvellous if we could imagine waiting for something that was a mystery to us? Wouldn’t it be grand to arrive next Sunday – Pentecost Day – and be surprised by God? Would you be willing to let God do a God-thing?

Now, just a reminder that this waiting time is not just like being in a waiting-room somewhere being frustrated or trying to amuse ourselves while the minutes evaporate. This waiting time is a time to pray and let God prepare you. It is my understanding and belief that God used these days to bring healing to the relationships between the 120 believers, to create a sense of belonging and acceptance, and to reveal the giftedness  of each one. Perhaps over this week there is something God needs to do in us – someone to forgive, someone to encourage, or a part of you that needs to be released.

A little something to ponder – have a blessed day!
