A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 22nd Friday

Greetings in the beautiful, powerful, and wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another lovely Spring morning in the Kingdom…and another opportunity to rejoice in God, to give thanks for all He has done, and to acknowledge that He is our portion-our prize-our delight! I trust that you are enjoying your week and have kept connected to family and friends.  This morning I am confident that something good is coming our way…your way – so get ready! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to call your name and reveal words of guidance to you and give you the encouragement that you need.

As I was putting my thoughts together this morning, God wanted to affirm my ponderings. He (God) prompted a fellow-adventurer to share a video clip about the ‘sheltering ministry’ of God. According to my calculations this is day 71 of our sheltering, but did you know that Noah sheltered in an ark for over a year with seven others and a boat load of animals. The video highlighted the many times God sheltered one of His children…oddly enough the experience of sheltering with God had profound implications…ie. Jesus was sheltered in a tomb for three days…you know ow that ended.

Yesterday we remembered the Ascension of Jesus, and with the disciples, we are entering ten days of sheltering as we wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit – the Day of Pentecost. I know that these days of sheltering are difficult for us and they have revealed many things to us about our character, attitudes, and behaviour. Some of us have learned a lot about our relationships and how we treat others and how we are treated. We have learned: forgiveness–from both sides; patience and impatience; give and take; remembering and planning; when to speak and when to be silent. As the ten days of sheltering prepared Jesus’ followers for the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church…our days of sheltering are preparing us for the next steps of our journey. I believe that God is using these days to birth something within us and it will come with Holy Spirit empowerment.

“Standing somewhere in the shadows you will Jesus-He’s the only One who cares and understands-Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him-And you will know Him by the nail prints in His hands” even as you shelter in your home, don’t forget to shelter in the presence of God – Psalm 91:1-2

Just a few things to think about – be blessed!
