A Church with a Heart for our Community

December 12th Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another bright, sunny…and very chilly morning in the Kingdom! I trust that you are anticipating a day of ‘serendipities’ as you go about your daily routine. This is now day 346 of 2019 — can you name three specific reasons to be grateful that you discovered along the way? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to let you sense His presence in a way that creates a moment of holy awe and that releases a wave of encouragement in your inner being.

Two weeks ago the season of Advent began with the Sunday of ‘Hope’ …and as wonderful as it was to focus on ‘hope’ through words and song, there is another facet that I got to see, that added some relevancy. I won’t give all the details but let me say to you that I asked myself the question…”How do we carry on in the moments when life doesn’t seem to make sense, when things don’t seem ‘fair’,and when there is no person who can help?” and that is where ‘hope’ comes into play.

How does one carry on?  Only with the anchor of your soul; only with a sure and firm hope that there is a better day coming…the Day of the Lord! As followers of the Christ, we place that ‘hope’ in front of us every day, and some days that can be challenging. I read the words – What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him–ever! – Hosea 12:6  Message. And while you are waiting, the Psalmist says ; I recall the many miracles God has done for me. They are continually in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about them.  Psalm 77:11 TLB. One of my devotionals used this quote – “Too often – we remember what we should forget – disappointments, hurts, failures – and forget what we should remember – victories, successes, good times.”

Thanks to God for reminding me that ‘hope’ is more than a warm thought to ponder in the Advent season – something to ponder-blessings!
