A Church with a Heart for our Community

December 18th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who slipped silently into our world, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! what a beautiful almost the last day of autumn 2019 and we are blessed to be able to see it and give the Lord our praise! I trust that you have had a good weekend and last few days – with lots of blessings experienced and shared. These days are filled with tasks to do and goals to accomplish and people to touch base with. However, are you taking time for yourself? Are you paying attention to the inner rhythm of your soul? Are you being like “Mary” and bowing in God’s presence to enjoy the moments? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal to you a few new insights to His presence in your life so that you may experience awe and wonder.

This morning I came across a few quotes that are causing me to spend some time pondering…and I do like to do a bit of that. Here is the first one that I will share with you:

“The primary purpose of prayer is not to make requests. The primary purpose is to praise, to sing, to chant. Because the essence of prayer is a song, and man cannot live without a song. Prayer may not save us. But prayer may make us worthy of being saved.” ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel

The second one is:

“Dear Lord, grant me the grace of wonder. Surprise me, amaze me, awe me in every crevice of your universe. Each day enrapture me with your marvelous things without number. …I do not ask to see the reason for it all: I ask only to share the wonder of it all.” ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel

The third one is:

“Prayer cannot bring water to parched fields, or mend a broken bridge, or rebuild a ruined city; but prayer can water an arid soul, mend a broken heart, and rebuild a weakened will.” ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel

Now we can ponder together and see what God wants us to understand – Have a blessed day!
