Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another one of those beautiful autumn mornings and a great day ahead of us! I trust that all your “fall projects” are getting done, both around your home and within you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release an extra measure of health and strength and happiness in your heart.
Please forgive me…but–“Way To Go Blue Jays!!” – baseball play-offs, hockey, football, pre-season basketball, new PGA golf season beginning…with all these seasons changing, I wonder if this is what it means in Ecclesiastes 3 – “to everything there is a season”. Okay, I will cease my attempts at humour. However, yesterday I was reminded that there are ‘seasons’ in our lives as well, as our age and health and life circumstances change. What we did or what was good or what worked in one season of our lives needs to adapt to these changes…and yet, there is always a ‘constant’ – “What He (God) was He is, and what He is He was, and what He is and was He ever will be – all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present” Selwyn Hughes.
The Bible declares: For it is by grace you have been saved through faith..For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8a,10 NIV. “Grace” has a variety of meanings, but the one that lights my fire is – “power ‘to do’ what on my own I probably wouldn’t even attempt.” I have been listening to a new song that says: Amazing grace unfailing-Grace that saves my soul-Grace unending grace unrelenting-Grace that won’t let go no turning back = Grace greather than our past-Deeper than our pain-Stronger than our sin-Your love forever it will last-Your blood will always save-Grace will always win…Gateway Worship.
God has called us into a life-long adventure of following Jesus…and Jesus: gave us an assignment – Matthew 28:16-20; gave us his authority ; gave us his Presence -24/7 ; released to us an inner power source – John 20:22 / Acts 1:8 ; he equipped us with everything we need – 2 Peter 1:3 ff ; he gave us a goal – John 14:1-4 ; he gave us a mission statement – Luke 23:34 ; he gave us a battle cry – Revelation 22:20-21. You and I – are not “seasonal workers” – we have a fight to be fought and a race to finish and faith to be kept!
As the hymn says – “Ponder anew what the Almighty can do” – through you! Be blessed!
