A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 14th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the above all names’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another beautiful fall morning – filled with adventures and opportunities and choices. This is a day that God has made for us…what will we do with it? Will we give ourselves to the day that He has made for us? I will be praying for you today, asking Father to allow joy and delight to encourage you.

I came across a quote this past week that stated that the place of greatest intimacy with someone was to be with them in a comfortable silence. Oddly enough, God thinks that way too! “Be still [quiet, silent] and know [personally, confidently without reservation] that I am [your] God.  Psalm 46:10. A missionary was asked the reason for his peace and inner strength and he responded: “Confidence in the goodness of God…I have come to the place in my Christian life where I am convinced that in the midst of the worst that can happen there is a good and wise purpose at work.” A translation of Isaiah 30:15 says: Your strength is quiet faith.  Moffatt.

I want to give you two verses of Scripture to ponder and then a prayer for the day. The Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with Himself and took possession of him. Judges 6:34 AMPC … Behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem [ your quiet place] until you are endued [clothed] with power from on high. Luke 24:49 KJV (parentheses added).

Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me…build a fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control. The day ahead will require more than my strength and ability can handle. As did Gideon, I need You to clothe me with Yourself so that I can accomplish the tasks of this day. In these quiet moments, whilst I sit silently in your Presence, enter into me and empower me to attempt great things with Your power. When Gideon faced impossible odds, You released a strategy…a battle plan seasoned with insight and wisdom that enabled him to gain victory for the people around him. You boldly stated that – “all things were possible with You!” – may it be reality in my life today…and I will come back again to be clothed afresh! God – I know you are good!

Be encouraged!
