A Church with a Heart for our Community

November 27th Friday

Greetings to you – “fellow-Adventurers” – in beautiful, wonderful, powerful, and hope-filled name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a great day – a day that the Lord has made so we can rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that your week has been a positive time for you and that you have had a few divine surprises, encounters, and interruptions. We are heading towards the end of a month and there are a few tasks to finish before we are ready to move on. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to:  “refuel” you – tend to any wounds – heal any brokenness – bring encouragement – and use you to help others.

Most of us are aware that not only are we coming to the end of a month and getting ready for a new one, but we are also bidding farewell to one “season” and entering a new one. We leave what we call “ordinary time” and commence “Advent” – the season of what is here but not fully here. We celebrate the fact that Jesus has come but is coming again – He is here, yet there is more to come.

The first Advent came at Bethlehem at a time when the world was in turmoil and darkness. The people were hoping for something or someone to bring change and meaning. The prophetic voices were promising that “the Light’ was coming…and it did – in the person of Jesus Christ. It would appear that our world is in darkness and disarray once again…and we are “hoping” for that Light to return. Once again, as the people cry out, the prophetic voices are declaring that “the Light” is coming. Once again, we will begin the Advent season and the war cry will be “HOPE.”

Have a blessed day!
