A Church with a Heart for our Community

November 25th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name that brought transformation to our world then and continues to bring it today – Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Well – today is not sunny and there are no blue skies and it is a little damp and dreary…but this is still the day the Lord has made and we are still going to rejoice and be glad in it! Do I hear an “Amen!”? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to refresh you with His love, strengthen you with His grace, and surround you with songs of joy.

This morning I was given the task of finding an address for and then directions to a new street in our city. I am grateful to the internet for making it a little easier but the first little map showed an area that was very new and the surrounding streets were unknown, so I ‘zoomed’ out a little until I discovered streets that I was familiar with. After doing that, locating the address was easy.

I recall that the Israelites were getting ready to enter the promised land when they were reminded to keep their eyes on God’s presence – the ark of the covenant – and follow it because they were going places that they had never been before. It was really important to have a frame of reference – both when I was trying to locate an address that was new and for God’s people going in an unknown direction.

It seems to me that we are in that sort of place within our world right now. We are heading towards a Christmas season that will be unlike any we have ever had – all that we are used to and had expected to be there has been affected. So it is very important to have a reliable reference point. I suppose that is one of the values of honoring traditions and the truths from God’s Word that never change. It begins this Sunday with the beginning of Advent. Are you ready? – I “HOPE” so!

Have a blessed day!
