A Church with a Heart for our Community

November 19th Thursday

Greetings in the Name, the powerful-name, the love-emitting name, the light-bringing name, the life-altering name…of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour. What a delightful fall morning…we give Him praise! I have a ‘sense’ that God is up to something…there is a presence riding on the wind and God wants to ‘do’ something: in lives, families, communities, places of work. in ‘us’ … so I will be praying for you today, asking Father to overwhelm you with Himself in ways that are undeniable.

I have a strong belief, and I have been declaring it out to all who will listen, that in our city-community there is a ‘wave’ of blessing coming to us from God–and it has to do with the answering of prayers, especially those that are long-standing requests. So this morning I am listening to a song and the chorus seem to express the Father’s heart- here are the words: So when your on your knees and answers seem to be so far away – You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held – Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place – I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held – Just be held, just be held…Mark Hall, Bernie Helms, Matthew West (Casting Crowns).

It seems that this song was written and performed when Mark Hall was deal with cancer and cancer treatments…so it is an insight into the heart of a fellow-believer. I am well aware that there are times when we are trying so hard to make life work and to find answers and to simply “hold on” to our faith…as if we were in control. It is a scary thing for us, and humbling, to let someone – especially a God we cannot see – “hold” us. In one of the verses we hear these words: And when you’re tired of fighting – Chained by your control – There’s freedom in surrender – Lay it down and let it go. I am thinking that we all are – “control freaks” – with our lives and it is so counter-intuitive to surrender in order to find what we need and what we are ultimately looking for.

Let me encourage you today…find a quiet, private spot…surrender yourself, at least as much as you will risk, to God- and let Him “hold you” for a time!  Blessings on you!
