Greetings to you in the powerful, beautiful, and wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another Spring morning…the weather is suggesting that a little rain is near, the many shades of green surround us, and a new month is coming our way, Therefore, I will make a declaration – “This is the day that Lord has made – we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to bless you with shalom-peace and deep joy and resilient grace and steadfast hope,
This is new release Friday…one of the days I look forward to and there are a few new music selections. However one caught my attention, it is a song by Dolly Parton and it is titled – When Life Is Good Again. Although I don’t appreciate the whole song, there is one verse that makes a relevant comment in reference to where life is happening right now. The words are: We’ve been brought to our knees-We’ve been so ill at ease-There are no guarantees-But you know life goes on-This too shall pass away-Bring new and different days-We need to change our ways-And right our wrongs. Oddly enough that is the message that carries us into Pentecost weekend.
As I read Acts 2 this morning God gave another thought for me to ponder. He knows I like words and the nuances that speak in interesting ways. One of the words that caught my eye is “you” – for sometimes “you” means someone in particular and sometimes it means a collective group and sometimes it means or suggests both. Jesus made a promise to the disciples – collective group- as He said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Now in my reading this morning, I read, Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. – Acts 2:3 TPT. So now the power that was for the collective you becomes the power for the specific you, and that happens again and again.
You are in a worship time with a group and you are worshipping – the power of Holy Spirit begins to manifest on specific “you” in the midst of a collective “you.” So, I have a thought that this Sunday when we focus on Pentecost…it is a time for the collective “you” and the specific “you” at the same time – …that engulfed each one of them. They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit…Acts 2:3b-4a TPT. You must be thinking what is the point, or is there a point? This is my point – God’s Word is powerful and creative revealing a God that He can present Himself anyway He wants from the expansive to the intimate…and Holy Spirit can be shared with the group and can be accepted personally. “You” – specific or collective cannot put God in a box!
Something to think about – have a blessed Friday!
