A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 29th Friday

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour…and our “Advocate” (1 John 2:1), our ‘lawyer’ in the courtroom of Heaven…now that is something to ponder and be thankful for! Another beautiful morning in the Kingdom to enjoy…and the promise of a grand weekend – we are so blessed! I trust that this has been a positive week for you and that you are excited-expectant about gathering with your Christian family to worship and sing and pray and fellowship! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to let you “hear” the sound of heaven!

This has been an interesting week – a wedding yesterday, ‘school’ last night, a Bible study where no one showed up, opportunities to witness, and praying with friends. At school, we have been learning – “How To Hear God’s Voice” – and it has been so positive and liberating. I have been listening to new music…there is much theology and teaching unleashed through the songs-hymns-choruses we sing. I have been finding new authors-mentors by word, who challenge, affirm, and create a very different inner world for me.

This morning I have the words of a song, two actually, before me and I am singing them to myself – quietly, for one never knows who might happen along. However, if you were here and you could catch the words, you would hear: “Now I belong to Jesus – Jesus belongs to me – Not for the years of time alone – But for eternity – – Joy floods my soul, for Jesus has saved me – Freed me from sin that long had enslaved me – His precious blood He gave to redeem – Now I belong to Him (back to the chorus) …and the other song: I know He cares for me, for me – I know He cares for me, for me – I’ll trust my Father in heaven – For I know He cares for me – – Sometimes I walk in the darkness – My path I can scarcely see – But I trust my Father in heaven – For I know He cares for me (back to chorus).

There are times when it is vital to sing “truth” into your soul. It was God who established the use of music and singing as a means of warfare against all of our enemies. In fact, it is the use of music that changes the ‘atmosphere’ of our surroundings. Now I must be careful because I could get carried away, suffice to say singing and music are part of God’s stock and trade. The Bible reveals that God sings and whistles. There is a school of thought that says in Genesis 1 when we read of story of Creation, when we read the word/phrase that God ‘spoke’ or ‘said’ – it could well be translated: God “sang”. There is power, creative-transformative power, in and through music/song.

Something to think about…Be blessed and enjoy the weekend — and sing!
