Greetings to you in the wonderful, powerful, and beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Well – a rather gray morning with a touch of dampness in the air…and yet, this is still the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! As we take that approach – we affect the lives of those we interact with in ways that we may never know. I trust that you and your family are enjoying health, strength, and happy hearts. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to speak words of comfort, encouragement, and affirmation to you in ways that you will understand and are able to respond to.
This morning I read these lines…Life has a way of eroding our confidence in the goodness of God. What a ridiculous understatement; let me try again. Life is a savage assault, striking at random, poisoning our heart’s assurance that God is good, or at least good towards us. This makes it so hard to find more of God, to receive Him in fresh and wonderful ways into our being…More of God comes to us as we love God. The more we love God, the more we are able to experience Him. – John Eldredge, Get Your Life Back. Ponder that for a moment or two.
God has a way of responding to those who love Him…and that is the importance of nurturing a relationship with God. Consider the verses of Scripture that explains it this way: For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him – 2 Chronicles 16:9 — The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me.” – Psalm 91:14 — The Father himself loves you because you have loved me. – John 16:27.
We have an enemy who wants to turn our hearts away from God so that we lose the experience of God’s love for us. When we lose that “loving feeling” our relationship with Him is diminished…and we are diminished. We interrupt the development of a relationship with God that allows us to experience more of who He is and what He can do. Consider how this parallels our human relationships…in order to be loved we need to love and when we love, our lover reveals more of themselves. The give and take of love creates intimacy…that is true in our human experience and is true of our experience with God.
We must not allow these these days of uncertainty and lock-down to drive a wedge between us and God…we need to allow this present life experience to drive us closer to God – to the One who loves us. I am thinking of a chorus that we used to sing – All that you need is a miracle-All that you need can be yours-All that you need is available-The moment you turn to the Lord. Right now we need “a miracle” – so let us keep loving God and letting Him love you.
A little something to ponder…be blessed!
