A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 5th Wednesday –

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! If I did not know that this day was “made” by the Lord, I could get a little discouraged – however, knowing differently, I will simply “rejoice and give thanks” along with you. I trust that you had a great weekend – a good start to this week  and are ready for what God wants to send your way. This is an important week for the church as we are in that 10 Day waiting-room between Ascension and Pentecost…it is supposed to be 10 days of waiting on God – for God – with God … a time of fine-tuning and adjustments for our inner person. Today I will be praying for you, asking to Father to come close to you as you come close to Him and that He would release His compassionate touch.

Over the past few weeks I have been exploring the world of essentials oils and aroma-therapy and healing ministry. This is a very interesting subject indeed.  The Bible contains several references to oils and spices, right from the fragrance of Lebanese cedars to frankincense to myrrh to lily of the valley to rose of Sharon. Oils and spices were kept in the King’s treasure-room. The fragrance of perfume was to surround people who belonged to God. There is even a recipe for incense that was only to used to approach God and for no other reason.

I want to give you a very interesting verse of Scripture: Now thanks be to God  who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to be the fragrance of Christ among those who are perishing.  2 Corinthians 2:14-15 NKJV. We bought a ‘diffuser’ for our home and it is a simple blessing to mix oils to obtain a fragrance that has profound effect on one’s well-being…physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. However to be told that I…we are to be a ‘diffuser’ of the fragrance of Christ conjures up an intriguing challenge.

To me the exciting part of that idea is what blend of essential oils is God using and what fragrance is being released. I, of course, have a song that expresses this thought as a prayer. It goes like this: Let it fill this room-Like sweet perfume-Your presence here-Let each heart be still-Each mind and will-As we draw near-We have tasted-Of your goodness-That is why we say-Fill this cup Lord-Fill us up with more-Much more of you…Overflow me-Overwhelm me-Never let me go-Here’s my cup Lord-Fill me up with more-Much more of you. – Graham Kendrick.  The scripture verse quoted above has an interesting question attached to it:  And who is sufficient for these things? – 2 Corinthians 2:16b NKJV.

My diffuser at home keeps running out of the oil/water mix and must be replenished and when it is replenished the reservoir must be cleaned and wiped out…especially if I want to change the ‘flavour’ of the oil. In similar fashion as  a ‘diffuser’ my reservoir can empty out and must be replenished. There are a few more words that are part of the song quoted: Let my spirit breathe-The love you give-So bontiful-Love that heals the pain-That takes the shame-And calms our fear. – Graham Kendrick. My ‘cleaning out’ process is rather unique and intimate, as is yours. if I am to be a good ‘diffuser’ of his presence.

Just a little something to ponder on a rainy day! – Have a blessed day today!
