A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 30th Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a great day in the Kingdom that God has given to us!…and I think that it is full of a myriad of “ingredients” – like one of those “complete meal boxes” that are available. In the meal box comes all that is needed to prepare the meal(s) that are on the enclosed recipe cards. In God’s “day box” we receive more than enough to create several “meals” if you will but there is no particular recipe card. I believe He wants to see what we will do with our unique and personalized ingredients. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to carefully watch over you and guide/direct,protect and to take joy in you.

This week we had an adventure. We went to the movie-theater to see the movie: Aladdin. What a great feel-good’ movie …with music, dance, and  some good life lessons. One of the life lessons came via the big, blue genie. He told Aladdin that if he chose to wish for material things that he would never be satisfied with what he received-that he would always want more. Now, in the movie that was illustrated quite nicely.

However I think the best line was one that was repeated several times and it encouraged laughter. However there was an underlying message…for me at least. The BBG (big blue genie) told Aladdin that he was Aladdin’s friend and…”you’ve never had a friend like me!” How true that was! in more ways than one.

I began thinking of Jesus’ profound statement in John 15:15 “… call you friends..” – and we have never had a friend like Him — ever! I remembered a special verse: Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy, for good friends are like anointing oil that yields the fragrant incense of God’s presence.  Proverbs 27:9  TPT. The next morning after the movie I came across an article about the four things to look for in a friend: a friend will help you be ‘you’ … a friend will believe in your dreams … a friend will make you better and not bitter … a friend is not afraid to hold you accountable. Wouldn’t you know it…a song came to mind called “Friend of God” – Who am I that you should be mindful of me – That you hear me when I call -Is it true that you are thinking of me – How you love me is amazing – I am a friend of God! – Israel Houghton.

I am thankful to God for directing creative people to make a movie that on a Tuesday night in May 2019 would remind me That God is my friend…and I have never had a friend like Him…What a friend I have in Jesus! Oddly enough before I ever knew that I needed His friendship…He sent Jesus to be my friend. Wow!

Have a great day…spend some time with your friend and be blessed!
