Greetings to you in the powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! It seems the weather for today cannot decide what this Spring day will be like. However, this I know…this is the day that Gd had planned for us and we must rejoice and be glad in it! There is an old saying…you never know what a day will bring – Proverbs 27:1 … and there is a good song that says…I should be thankful Lord, I know I should-But Lord, I hope this day is good – David Hanner. I trust that you have had a good week with many special moments that were “good” and caused you to say “thank you, Father!” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to …cradle your head with his left hand and hold you close with his right hand – Song of Songs 2:6 TPT.
These are very different days and many people are dealing with heavy hearts as they navigate the uncertainty of these times. Life feels like you are in a snow-globe that just got a good shake-up and the snow hasn’t settled yet…and we need a little security. I am thinking of a song…of course…that asks a question or two: Will your anchor hold in the storms of life …? Aha! some of you are singing…because that is what it feels like right now and there is a logical understanding implied: the bigger the storm the bigger the anchor that is needed!
In the song there is a simple chorus that helps to remember…we have an anchor that holds soul-Steadfast and sure while the billows roll-Fastened to the Rock that will not move-Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love! I suppose one of the lessons we are learning through these days is how important it is to have an ‘anchor’ and that anchor is a simple but complex little word called – hope! We need hope!
I cam across a few instructions about finding our hope in the midst of the storm. First, we need a navigation system and that is found in God’s Word – the Bible. What are your “verses” that you turn to…you know the verses that you quote when times are good but grasp in your fist when life gets complicated.
Second, run into the Presence of God…remember when the disciples were asked…there is a storm of opposition and people were leaving Jesus’ entourage – Jesus asks the disciples if they wanted to leave and Peter – bless him – says who could we run to, we will run to you because you have the words of eternal life. (John 6:68).
Third, run to a trusted community…people who love and support and accept and believe in your worth and understand because they are or have been in the storm as well. We have spent much time listening to hundreds of different people tell us their opinions and share their insights but we need someone we know who is right there with us. One pastor suggested that these times are making us into a better church community when we aren’t together.
Fourth, we need to keep worshipping as we bring our questions and concerns and fears. His Word teaches us to worship with our whole heart and not lean on our own understanding, We are cautioned about have a divided mind. We give Him everything and allow Him to sort it out…He can!
Just a few things to think about on a Friday — have a great day and be blessed!
