A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 14th Friday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom – bright sunshine, a fresh breeze, a blue sky, and you are alive! I trust that you have had a good week and experienced God’s presence in a dozen different ways…at least! I am hoping that you are looking forward to a blessed weekend…gathering with your church family for worship and fellowship, celebrating Father’s Day and maybe even a birthday, enjoying time with family, and relaxing with a book. Today I will be praying for you, asking our ‘heavenly’ Father to release hope and joy and healing and courage to you.

I was drawn to a verse of scripture that says: Taste and see that the LORD is good – Psalm 34:8a  NIV … Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see–how good God is. – Psalm 34:8a  The Message … Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies he gives. – Psalm 34:8a  TPT. Here is God inviting the Psalmist…and all who read this verse to experience Him…to have an encounter with Him.

I began to consider the different times God invited people to ‘encounter’ himself…Adam & Eve with a walk in the garden – Jacob in a dream and a wrestling match – David in a cave while running for his life -Moses at a burning bush in a remote location -Thomas inside a locked room – a woman at a well – Paul on a desert road – Elijah on a mountain cliff. All these and more seem to suggest to me that God is not choosy about places or times — He simply wants people to encounter Him and to experience just how ‘good’ He really is. I mean, after all, Jonah met him while inside a whale’s stomach and John the Revelator…on the island of exile.

Where is it that He will set up an encounter with you? Have you had that moment, and many more, where God has revealed himself as He offered to you an expression of his ‘goodness’? Can you say with great confidence to another fellow-adventurer – “taste and see” how good God can really be? The interesting thing to me is that He wants people to do that…to tell their story, to influence someone’s search for that “something” that will impact their lives in a definitive way. Your story and my story of our encounter with God is a very unique part of our ministry of magnifying the name of our God…and as such you and I are more than qualified!

Soemthing to ponder – have a great weekend and be blessed!
