A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 18th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely almost last day of Spring 2019! I hope you have plans to enjoy this day and to deliberately giving thanks to God. I trust that you had a great Father’s Day weekend and then a Monday. I believe that this is going to be a significant week for someone or even some’two’. So today I will be praying for you, asking Father to make his Presence known in ways that you cannot miss and that you will understand and that you will be able to respond to.

I really like a week that begins with God trying to get my attention and giving me something to ponder. So this morning, God directs my attention to these words: But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you.  John 14:26 TPT. I have often shared this verse when teaching about the importance of reading the Bible…after all Holy Spirit cannot remind you about words you have never ‘heard’ because you never read them. However, I like the reference to ‘being set free’…and I am taking that to mean that He will set my mind free to see the truth from different perspectives…depending on the season I am in or the circumstance that I find myself in.

So this morning, I am reading my devotions and the writer shares an event that I have read many times and even preached once or twice, but because I had just read the above verse, I let my pondering discover a new truth or a new perspective. I recently read through the Gospel of John…a chapter a day and it seems to me that John shares more about the Holy Spirit than I had ever considered. I discovered that Jesus taught more and revealed more about Holy Spirit than I realized. The first reference to Jesus’ ministry – the wedding at Cana is, in my mind a teaching about Holy Spirit since ‘wine’ is symbolic of Holy Spirit…and when the water turned to wine is served, it is the best.and it is for everyone who is a guest. It says at the end of this event…this was a sign revealing his glory, and his disciples believed in him. John 2:11b TPT  and later we read: He (Holy Spirit) will glorify me on earth… John 16:14. TPT. So I am thinking that I need to go back to the Gospel of John and look for Holy Spirit glorifying Jesus…to see the person and ministry of Holy Spirit.

Just a little something for us to ponder…be blessed!
