A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 25th Wednesday

Good Day to you! and greetings the name of the one who came to be ‘the Reconciler’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour. Well…it seems we have one of those “mixed bag of tricks” days to enjoy – and to thank God for being in control. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release “healing” into your body, mind, spirit, and relationships … please expect to sense His presence in your life today in ways that only you will understand.

Today is not new release Tuesday…not officially anyway, but there was a a special release of a song from an upcoming album by a group called – New Wine. The song is a reflective worship song based on Psalm 23 and is entitled – You Restore My Soul. One of the verses says: You lift my head, You wipe my tears-You restore my soul-You draw me into Your embrace, You restore my soul …then a chorus: Even when I’m lost in the deepest valley-You’re holding onto me-Even when the silence falls around me-You’re holding onto me-Even when it feels like we’re separated-You’re holding onto me. It is a simple and encouraging song.

However, I heard a song when we went to the movies and it has got hold of my spirit. The song is a love song for a young couple but it is one of those songs that could express our intimacy with Jesus. The song was sung in the movie – Mamma Mia 2, and is titled: I’ve Been Waiting For You and the words of the chorus go like this: You thrill me, you delight me – You please me, you excite me – You’re all I’ve been yearning for – I love you, I adore you – I lay my life before you – I only want you more and more – And finally it seems my lonely days are through – I’ve been waiting for you.

What really interests me is that this song uses the chorus twice and I could imagine it being part of an initial encounter between Jesus Christ and a lost, weary soul – like me. The first time the chorus is sung, I would be singing it to Him and the second time, He would be singing it to me. In fact, I can see it being used as part of the restoration of Peter the Big Fisherman by the seaside. Although, for me, it could be the song that would describe the intimacy I have discovered many a time in a quiet moment with my Lord. It sure is strange how and when and where God decides to reveal a truth.

Why not take a moment and consider…what song would you hear and/or sing in an intimate encounter with God? I know you are thinking this isn’t possible, but read God’s Word…Zephaniah 3:17 – and then take some time in God’s presence.

Be blessed!
