A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 19th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who “breaks the power of cancelled sin and set the prisoner free” (Charles Wesley), Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a refreshing summer morning in the Kingdom! Isn’t God good to us? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with a ‘hedge of protection’ – for the enemy is not on a summer vacation, He is lurking in the depth of the shadows around us.

It is interesting how God touches our lives and affirms us. Yesterday I was sharing about the importance of God’s Word and this morning in my devotions He sent a thought to ponder about the Bible. The acrostic definition for Bible = Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth … i really liked that.

As well, yesterday one of our elders had what I think can be best described as an encounter with an angel –  a divine messenger on assignment. I believe God wanted our elder to know that he was being looked after and that He (God) was on the case, paying attention to the elder’s prayer concerns and health issues.

And last night was a birthday celebration for a significant ‘time achievement’ and the church family gathered in a laughed and ate and shared table-talk. It was a good time to remind ourselves that the family of faith is important and we need each other beyond our Sunday gatherings.

This morning, as I reflect on all that happened yesterday, God pointed out to me that as I mentioned above – the enemy is lurking and seeking to see who He can attack. I believe that God has been blessing our little church family to the point where the enemy is concerned with our progress and he wants to stir up discontent any way he can. God is saying to me this morning…keep the focus on Him, resist the enemy’s lies and methods, keep in the Word, and keep loving each other allowing that love to be the umbrella of grace over one another.

A little something to ponder…if God is at work building us up–then our enemy is at work trying to impede the building project!  Be blessed today…pray for your Christian family and forgive!
