Greetings in the name of the One who is constantly at work transforming me into the person He knows I can be, Jesus Christ THE Risen Saviour! I trust you had a good weekend and the beginning of this week…and that you are remembering to savour each day as it comes rushing at you – sixty seconds per minute and sixty minutes per hour and on and on. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to assist you in slowing down to enjoy each irreplaceable moment that comes your way.
This morning I have been listening to a relatively new song called…”Always have Jesus”… and the words go like this: What are we left with when the walls come crashing down-What are we left with when it’s all a battleground-What are we left with when the answers can’t be found … What do we run to when the muddy waters rise-What do we cling to when we’re holding on for life-Who’s going o be there when the storms of life arise …(and by faith we sing the chorus) – We’ll always have Jesus-No matter what comes-We’ll always have Jesus-We won’t be overrun-When the day of trouble finds us-We’ll be standing on the promise-We’ll always have Jesus-Always have Jesus …(and the ending comes…) – We’re sometimes surrounded but never abandoned-We’re gonna make it-We’re gonna make it-We’re sometimes knocked down but we’re never defeated-We’re gonna make it-We’re gonna make it – written by Michael Farren. They are really good words to hang onto in these days!
And then God sent me two quotes to ponder: You cannot find excellent corporate worship until you stop looking for excellent corporate worship and pursue God himself — I sometimes wonder if we are beginning to worship, worship rather than worship God … both these quotes come from the heart of D.A. Carson. I recall a comment attributed to the theologian, Karl Barth. A young girl asked him what the most important biblical truth was that he held onto…”Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so!”
Today I would pass on a simple spiritual exercise, a little similar to one many of us have already done but…”ask yourself this question: what do I want to be different this year?” – Now sit with that for ten minutes and then let your heart surface as you take it to Jesus in prayer. Lord, come into this. Show me the way. Jesus, what is the theme of this year for me? When He speaks…write it down and post it somewhere that you will see it often. – Many thanks to my friend, John Eldredge!
Have a blessed day!
