A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 23rd Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of “the Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood”  John 1:14a The Message, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful late summer morning in the Kingdom! I know that God makes “every day good” but as I say to folk – some days seem ‘better’! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday, experiencing God’s presence in unique and tangible ways. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release wisdom, insight, and persistence to complement your faith.

I came across a wonderful quote in my daily devotions and I want to share it with you: “Our souls, says one writer, are ‘word shaped’. By this he means that we are made to thrive on God’s Word, and that when we try to live on the words of others we live as diminished human beings…The question asked by Peter brings this truth into sharp focus: ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life’ (John 6:68)  – Selwyn Hughes, Every Day With Jesus. One of the things that I believe God is trying to teach me is in this area. I am appreciative of my daily devotions and ministry articles and Facebook faith messages – but I need the Word of God.

It is God’s Word that is alive and powerful – Hebrews 4:12, and it is God’s Word that has been God-breathed for my (our) benefit – 2 Timothy 3:16, and it is God’s Word that provides essential nourishment – Deuteronomy 8:3, and it is God’s Word that the Psalmist wrote 176 verses about concerning the practicalness of – Psalm 119, and…I cannot do without it. I must not forget…Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35 NIV). Just recently I was asked the question: What book are you most grateful for?…and the answer, of course – the Bible, that collection of 66 – letters and journals and songs and poems and historical accounts. The B-I-B-L-E – oh that’s the book for me – I stand alone on the Word of God – the B-I-B-L-E!

Have a great day! — Be blessed!
