Greetings to you in the name of the “Promise Keeper”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another beautiful summer morning – and we give thanks to God for every good and perfect gift He sends our way. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to make His presence known to you in ways that you will understand and that you can respond to.
Yesterday I got to spend some time with an old friend. Although he has been around, we haven’t connected and since it was mostly my fault…I am truly sorry. My friend just released a new book, number forty in fact. I think I have read over half of them and even have them on my bookshelf. I can still remember the first of his books that I read and the impact it had on my life and how it influenced a new direction in my Christian journey. So, Max Lucado and I sat in my office…through his latest book – ‘Unshakeable Hope’ and renewed our relationship.
‘Unshakeable Hope’ focuses on the promises of God…7,487 of them according to a researcher – and that is why I called God the “Promise Keeper” and why Max Lucado refers to us as “People of the Promise.” I had decided that I was going to read one or two chapters as well as the ‘introduction’ but somehow it didn’t work out that way, since I am halfway through it. Yes, I will be referencing it a few times over the next days. Max makes a declaration for us, as the People of the Promise, at the end of chapter one and I want to share it: We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because his Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakeable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God.
Early this morning, God reminded me quite strongly that He is not the God of incomplete or half-hearted or unfinished promises. In particular, He spoke about being our Healer and that He didn’t sort of heal or that will do for now or you’ll have to live with it. He referred me to Mark 8:22-26, and the man who was being healed of blindness. Jesus anoints his eyes with saliva and asks if anything changed. The man said it helped a bit but people looked like trees walking around. Jesus touches his eyes a second time and the healing is completed. It seems that God wanted me to know and understand that He will keep touching our lives until the mission is accomplished. His promise states: I am the God that healeth thee … Exodus 15:26.
Something to ponder…be blessed!
