A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 26th Tuesday

” Father, help me go out into this day whispering to myself: ‘In the strength of the One who lives within me I am ready for anything.’ Burn this truth deep within my heart I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen ” – Greetings in the name of the One who is more than able, Jesuys Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a “damp” fine day we have been given – another, “This is the day that the Lord has made!” day! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday with lots of surprises and affirmations of God’s incredible love. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release a measure of healing, courage, and wisdom to you.

Yesterday was a prayer gathering of those concerned about the spiritual needs of our city and county. The prayers are always so unique, as God expresses Himself through the individuality of the intercessors. I am learning afresh the beauty of spontaneous prayers coming from those who surrender themselves to God. I have often heard people express their inability to pray with the perceived eloquence of others…they have even held back praying out loud. However God isn’t concerned if you and I impress someone else…He plants ideas and visions and concerns in someone’s heart-mind-spirit, then waits to see what will be spoken forth back to Him. In fact, a phrase that is often repeated in the Bible is: “…they called out to God” or “Then…Moses or David or Abraham or Jesus or Paul…prayed to God” – notice the two words – “to God” not to others.

I will let that topic sit in your mind and see what God says to you. This morning God drew my attention to a phrase and then a quote. The phrase expressed something I have been trying to share, rather inadequately: We worship – He responds! Now that is a spiritual principle and it is a powerful truth. The quote is something I needed to remember and something I need to pass on. It comes from a book written by Katherine and Jay Wolf. Here it is: I suppose in that moment, I realized that when we most need our intangible God to be more tangible, we need look no further than His people to make Him manifest. Yes, whether we understand or even recognize what is happening, you and I are called upon to make the ‘intangible God more tangible.’ I am reminded of a song that says…God has no hands to serve but ours…no feet to go but ours…no eyes to see or ears to hear or….but ours.

You and I need to remember that we are people of unique worth with many talents and abilities that God uses to express His presence to the world around us. It may be serving or singing or writing blogs or praying out loud in a prayer gathering. There is a well-travelled observation that goes like this..“Without God you cannot and without you God will not.”

Something to ponder on a dreary day…be blessed!
