A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 28th Thursday

Greetings in the name of the One who is able to do “more” than I can think or ask, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another day in the Kingdom and although it is not sunny-warm like I would really enjoy…it is still the day that God made for us! According to the Bible, God made everything and everyone for a specific purpose, so I don’t want to miss what that purpose is for today by grumbling about it. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release to you an insight, a revelation if you will, of what is going on around you that you are not aware of.

I am really excited today because God revealed to me – through a telephone conversation – an understanding of a prayer that I prayed last Monday. Monday’s, as some of you know, we gather to pray for our city and surrounding area and very often in the releasing of prayer requests there are times when personal requests are expressed. We pray for healing, mending of broken families, broken relationships, things we are planning, and the like. This past Monday there were a number in attendance with health issues related to backs and spinal disease…at one point we prayed that God would send healing from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head as He moved along the spine. This morning I was asked why, if we are praying for the city and area, are we praying for personal healing…good question.

My first response was that in order for the intercessors to pray effectively – they needed to experience what they were asking for in regards to someone else. However, as we talked it through God allowed me a different perspective. As intercessors praying for a city and area, we were being allowed to experience the needs of that city and area personally. This city and area has been hit hard economically over the past few years…the back-spine of this area has been injured – it needs healing. The healing needs to happen for all the related symptoms – homes and families have been affected, hopes and dreams have been devastated, plans for future programs and activities were set aside. God was saying to me that when we really don’t know how to pray for the needs of this city and area- consider what the needs of the people are and pray for a city-area as if it were an individual.

Even as put these thoughts into words, I can sense God has more to teach me, and so stay tuned. In the meantime, look at your city as if it were a person and pray for things that affect the person as though they were the problems/needs of the individual called city/area. Something to ponder on a Thursday…be blessed!
