A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 29th Friday

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another “cool” day in the Kingdom…but it is still “one of those days!” I trust that you have had a good week and have had many reasons to give God praise and offer thanks to Him. This being a “transition weekend” – April one day and May the next – there will be things on our “2 Do List” to finish up and leave behind so that May is wide open to explore and enjoy! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to stir up a spirit of expectation for the worship gatherings and His presence brooding over us.

This morning the opening line of my devotion stated: You were born to be a dwelling place for God’ Presence. Gideon was an Old Testament prototype of what all believers have access to today–the ability to be empowered by God’s Presence to accomplish the impossible!  Bill Johnson, Hosting The Presence Every Day. Just stop for a moment…you and I are dwelling places for God’s Presence! Let us move past the “that’s nice” or “isn’t that awesome” sort of responses. Let us park ourselves on that spot for a few minutes.

“Dwelling place” not a visiting area, not an overnight respite, not a refuelling-stop on the way – but a “dwelling-place.” Remember “dwelling place” .. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever – Psalm 23:6b NIV…“dwell forever” – and that sort of permanency is what God’s Presence is looking for in us. This takes me to my favorite verse – He has also set eternity in the human heart – Ecclesiastes 3:12b.

Now, what about the second sentence…empowered by God’s presence to accomplish the impossible. God’s Presence is for practical purposes, measurable manifestations, noticeable nuances….and we have said – “I don’t know how I made it through that circumstance…I don’t know where the strength came from…I don’t know where those words came from” ….how about the empowerment of God’s Presence accomplishing the impossible.

Maybe it is time to realize that God’s Presence is more a part of us than we have realized. Maybe He is the “house guest” we have simply been tolerating and not enjoying and not expecting to contribute. Maybe in this month of May, with Pentecost Sunday at the midway point, it is time to experience a fresh start with the God’s Presence dwelling within — alive and very well!

Have a great “Transition Weekend” – be blessed!
