A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 18th Wednesday

Greetings in the name of “our refuge and strength” (Psalm 46:1) and in Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful winter’s morning filled with snow…and wonder – life – possibility – beauty! Do I hear a reluctant…”Amen!” We are at ‘mid-week’ again an d it is important that beginning today we starting praying towards the upcoming worship gatherings and fellowship times. I know that many of you have to travel places today – so I will ask Father to surround you with angels of protection and alertness.

Yesterday I told you that I stood on the Bible as the everlasting Word of God. Today, I want to affirm that I believe in the Church and its future. I have been reading lots of facts and figures and trends that suggest that the Church is doomed to destruction and failure and will soon disappear…and to some extent that is true. The Church that was and is created by human beings will not stand against the onslaught of the enemies strategies. However, the declaration I stand on is: “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18. I believe that the Church, that was created by God, through Jesus Christ, will be around as long as God intends it to be.

I believe that when Jesus uttered the words: “It is finished”  John 19:30 NIV,  that the battle to create ‘the Church’ was accomplished and that from that vantage point the Church stands in “victory.” The man-made, program-driven, big-box church “fights for” survival to maintain its place in the modern world. However, the God-built church meeting under a tree in Africa, in the bush villages of South America, in secret locations in Asia/Europe, and with diminished resources in North America is “fighting from” a place of victory secured for it by Jesus Christ.

Be blessed!
