Greeting to you…loved by the Father, saved by the Son, sealed by the Holy Spirit…in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful autumn morning in the Kingdom…let us declare that this is the day that the Lord has made for us, and so we rejoice and chose to be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and the start to your week – and I trust that you have experienced God’s presence around you guiding, directing, and creating divine moments-encounters-opportunities. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to release healing, restoration, and peace into your daily walk with Him.
I have a confession to make to you…I have added “two” new Christmas cd’s to my collection! I am looking forward to sharing them in worship gatherings…and I haven’t even heard them yet, well, maybe one or two cuts, just to know whether to buy or not. I am a little excited about what I have heard so far.
I, also, have started reading a book, entitled: Sing…how worship transforms your life, family, and church.- by Keith & Kristyn Getty. Although I have just started, God has given me two quotes to ponder. The first one comes from Paul David Tripp: “God is the ultimate musician. His music transforms your life. The notes of redemption rearrange your heart and restore our life. His songs of forgiveness, grace, reconciliation, truth, hope, sovereignty, and love give you back your humanity and restore your identity.”
The second comes from St. Augustine who was responding to the idea that we are to not just about God but to God…and that our singing is not like prayer–it is prayer. The quote attributed to Augustine was that we pray twice when we sing. Singing to God, about God creates a certain intimacy. The first three chapters of this little book are built around the words…Created to…Commanded to…Compelled to…SING.
The main focus of the book is about the importance of congregational singing…and it is a challenge. I think because of the evolving style of worship the role of congregations is being diminished by the idea of a worship team or leader, so that we don’t really sing but only mouth the words…lipsync. However, I think because of the covid19 protocols and being told we can’t or shouldn’t sing…we want to sing. I think that we are discovering our “song” once again, and what a liberating blessing that is because we didn’t even know we had one.
Just a little something to think about…be blessed!
