Greetings in the name of the one who calls us to “rest” – Matthew 11:28, Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a delightful morning in the Kingdom – all my leaves have blown away…check your yard! Here’s a personal question just for you…are you clothed properly? What kind of attitude are you wearing…is your spiritual armour on…have you deliberately put on the outer garment of love? Just a little something to ponder…you might want to check out Colossians 3:1-17, especially in another version. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to empower you to be the best ‘you” that you can be.
Yesterday I wrote about the survey question: Jesus is ___________________________ and then I discovered there is a website called “Jesus is”, if your interested in looking at some responses. However I received a devotional email this morning entitled: The Present Tense Christ by Max Lucado …supernatural synchronicity I think. So today I would say: Jesus is NOW! as Max Lucado reminded me of the number of times Jesus said, “I am…” and then I recall that the apostle Paul said that all of God’s promises are – “Yes! and amen in Christ” … 2 Corinthians 1:20, and that means right now. Imagine a promise made years in the past that is ‘present tense’ – right now.
Since as you know I understand theological things through the medium of music, I have been focusing on some of the songs we sing and how they express the “Present Tense” of our faith, songs like: He’s never early, He’s never late (NOW) … Standing on the promises (NOW) … Jesus loves me (NOW) … Abide with me (NOW) … ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus (NOW) … Trust and obey (NOW) … My Jesus I love you (NOW) … and I realise that I have believed, without some church doctrine, that God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are “Present Tense” realities in my faith journey.
Even as I let the simpleness of this thought roll around in my thoughts there is a truth, a hope that lies within the heart of God’s people: Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 NIV. Think about this, someday in the future you and I will become like him, a “Present Tense” person, and we will be able to see the One who has existed from before the beginning of time in the “Present Tense” – wow!
Be blessed!
