A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 31st Friday

Greetings in the name of the who is constantly “here now”, Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! Wow! the end of another month …and “Happy Hallowe’en!” Are you ready for a new month…and a time change? What a great morning in the Kingdom! I trust that you have had a delightful week with a ‘blessed mixture’ of experiences and happenings. I will be praying for you today, asking the Father to prepare you for the weekend’s faith gatherings as He fills you with a ‘hunger and thirst’ for more of him.

I have been collecting “bread crumbs” along the path that God has prepared for me this week…let me tell you about them. First, in the midst of a prayer gathering, of all places, someone was crying out to God – asking to be ‘changed’ in an area of their life. I distinctly sensed God’s voice say:”I the LORD do not change…” Malachi 3:6 NIV. I have always understood that in a traditional theological sense…His character does not change. However, He nudged me in a different line of thought and I found myself adding a few more words…“I the LORD do not change – “I transform.” I do not move things around or redecorate or repaint with a new shade of color or …. I transform!

God gave me 24 hours to think about that concept…which, of course, is like a 1000 years to Him. I was in a ‘waiting area’ while my car was being serviced…again, only God would meet you in a ‘waiting area’ to reveal a new perspective. I thought I was waiting for my car and God thought I was waiting for Him…who knows, maybe that is really what was happening. Anyway, I was doing some reading and the author was talking about “transformation” and this verse was quoted: Forget about what’s happened, don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.  Isaiah 43:18-19  The Message – “transformation!”

As I was picking up these ‘breadcrumbs’, God reminded me of a song we have used in our church – “Take My Life” by Scott Underwood. It has a significant phrase that repeats in the song: “Take my mind – transform it” – not ‘change’ but ‘transform” and that highlights the power of the words of the apostle Paul: “…but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Romans 12:2b  NIV. In these rather frantic and confusing days we live in, God wants to “transform” me, and you – and it begins in the way we ‘think’ in our minds. God does not simply want to change our minds…He wants to ‘transform’ our minds and give us ‘brand new’ thoughts.

So, I gathered my ‘bread crumbs’…enough to fill an offering plate, and I simply presented them back to God, singing the song: “So take my heart and form it – Take my mind transform it – Take my will conform it – To Yours, to Yours oh Lord.”

Have a great weekend…be blessed!
