A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 31st Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Christ…The Chain-Breaker…The Difference-Maker…The Light-Bringer…The Finder of the Lost…The Fixer of the Broken…The Lover of our Soul and to quote a friend…He is all that and a bag of chips! What an awesome day in the Kingdom – time to rise and shine and give God all the glory and be a ray of light for someone! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to use you today to bless a family member or a friend or a complete stranger in such a way that you will hear the applause of the nail-scarred hands.

What a night for baseball fans — the last game of the World Series won by a team that had never done so before, away from their home-field and fans, and against a formidable team. It was exciting to see the celebrations and hear all the comments…what a victory! However, in a few short months another season of baseball will begin and teams will be looking for victory next year.

I am reminded of the ‘victories’ that take place in our lives…and there have been many victory celebrations along the way. They, too, have been won away from home for we are citizens of heaven – this world is not our home! The opposing team has been strong , stronger than us at times, with what often appeared to be an unfair advantage, but our coach and manger and team-owner believed in us and our abilities…we were chosen and called and equipped. Interestingly enough each victory that we have won has prepared us for the next contest and the next victory

I am reminded that there is going to be another victory celebration and it too will be won away from the home-field of heaven and against a very formidable enemy and it will be celebrated in the grandest way…an ongoing celebration for it will be the final victory! We can have the honour of watching and cheering-on our team…and oh how loud we are going to shout! I have a feeling that that final game is not far away and the grandstands are starting to fill up quickly. “Oh what a day, glorious day that will be!”

Something to ponder — have a blessed last day of October!
