Greetings to you in the wonderful and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Oh! what a beautiful morning…a new season has begun…school buses, crossing guards, happy children, even happier parents…and lovely sunshine! I trust that you had a grand weekend with many, many blessings to enjoy and share. I pray that you have health and strength and a happy heart as you begin a new season. Today I will be praying for, asking Father to release joy to you so that you will find yourself laughing and humming/whistling and singing…so that His presence finds its way to you refreshing and restoring and reviving!
The beginning of new seasons brings adventures, challenges, and opportunities for those in leadership. Personally, I like to take a day or three to “ponder” – to review and analyse and make adjustments and decisions. It is a critical time and one where you must be aware of all the forces that surround you, am quite sure that by now you know how the Lord gets my attention…through music, through the written word, and through revelation from seemingly random events.
So, yesterday was our Monday prayer gathering and most of those in attendance were focused on praying for today’s beginning of the school year, the concerns of those facing ‘storms’…both physical-like hurricanes and spiritual ones as well, individuals that needed God’s touch, and the ministry of local churches. I found myself having wandering thoughts, asking God silently for some sort of sign or direction. He, of course, responded and reminded me of an event in Jeremiah’s life. Jeremiah was a little discouraged, feeling a little challenged and less than effective. He decided that he would stop preaching and teaching…just mind his own business. God responded with a physical touch that Jeremiah could only describe as a “burning in my bones” … that was strong that Jeremiah knew that he had to keep going.
Now this morning, the director of music – my lovely wife, servant of God put on a morning “CD” and strangely enough a song caught my attention. It was an old hymn that is meaningful to me as it was part of my spiritual journey. Well, actually it is the chorus that goes like this: He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock-That shadows a dry thirsty land–He hideth my life in the depths of His love-And covers me there with His hand … Fanny Crosby. The song was inspired by Exodus 33 – Moses was feeling a little insecure and unsure if he wanted to follow God’s leading. Moses told God that he needed to be sure that God was going with him. God told him, more than once, not to be afraid because He was indeed gong to go with them. However, Moses asked God for a sign...I want to see your glory…I want to see You and then I will know. God being God responded…Okay, Moses, get ready. God his Moses in the cleft of a rock and let him see the back part of His presence.
So this morning, I am thinking that God is going to give me a physical manifestation – a burning in my bones, a holy restlessness …and He is going to show me His glory passing by. I am thinking that God is not through with me…just yet.
Be blessed as you enjoy the day!
