A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 13th Wednesday

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus – THE Risen Saviour! I am beginning to think that this is the year of “mid-week winter storms” as it seems like every Wednesday we seem to experience some sort of weather chgallenge. However, this is still a day that God has made for us and we must find an opportunity to give praise and thanksgiving to God. I trust that you had a good weekend and have had reason to look back  and appreciate the Presence of God in the midst of your life situation. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to watch over your ‘comings and goings’ and give you ‘shalom-peace’.

Last Friday was “new release day” for music, however I did not pay close attention until this morning…and was delighted to find an encouraging song. The song is written by a young worship leader that I have come to appreciate. It seems like there are many new voices being released in the realm of worship music- I suppose that this is God’s season for empowering new expressions of ancient truths.

The song that caught my attention is entitled: Praise Your Name, by Corey Voss. I want to share the words of the chorus with you: I’m gonna sing my way out of the valley-I’m gonna sing my way up the mountain-I will take hold of the truth of Your promise-I’m gonna praise-I’m gonna push through ’til every lie crumbles-I’m gonna dance in the midst of the rain-I’m gonna rest in the arms of the Father-I’m gonna praise, I’m gonna praise Your name. It has good music to sing-a-long with and I am looking forward to using it in days to come.

The truth of the song highlights a perspective that I believe in…there is power in our praise. I understand that there are many times when praising God is counter-intuitive and that really isn’t surprising. I have learned, as I am sure you have as well, that God doesn’t make sense…but of course – His Word teaches us that over and over.

Actually two short verses in the song say: Fear and depression-Shame and confusion-You have to bow-All lesser things-That demand my attention-You have to bow …. because – I’m gonna sing my way out of the valley!

Have a good day!
