A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 18th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the ‘soon coming King’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Well, it is one of those mornings that encourages you to say in faith…”This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that you had an enjoyable weekend and Monday – with lots to thank God for. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to infuse you with strength, courage, hope, and joy – and may great grace be your portion!

Last week we attended a concert. It was our first time hearing the Gaither Vocal Band in person. We were looking forward to the night and were not disappointed on bit. The music, the laughter, the sharing of testimony, and the atmosphere in the building…all so positive. Of course, it was not simply a concert of music and song – it was a journey of worship towards the presence of an amazing God.

For me the concert was highlighted by three particular songs. The first song was a newer  one that we have used many times…but when sung live and on stage it had a fresh energy. The song – He’s the chain breaker – was powerful and had the audience standing and singing along. Somehow the line in the song that declared – He’s the prison-shaking Saviour – seemed to instil a divine energy.

The second song – We have this moment  was the first time I had heard it all the way through. I think I have only sung the chorus…and only a few times. It was challenging and humbling to be reminded that — We have these moments to hold in our hands and to watch as they slip though out fingers like sand…Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come…We have these moments – this moment – today.

The third song – The King is coming – has been around for a few years now…somewhere around forty-eight or so…but the message is very relevant for us today. It was one of the finale songs of the evening and stirred our hearts, bringing us to our feet with hands lifted up.

Thanks be to God for giving the gift of music and songwriting and the ability to perform to individuals who are so willing to travel across the country and share it with others. God is so good!

Have a blessed day!
