A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 11th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who loved us before we could love Him, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I want to make a declaration…No matter the weather – This is the day that the Lord has made and I will be glad in it! If you were awake at 5:30-6:00 am it was a lovely morning with beautiful sunshine but…! I trust you had a good weekend-Monday and are ready for an exciting week with lots of surprises and adventures. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to prepare you for all the people/situations/opportunities,blessings/challenges that will come your way this week.

One of this mornings devotional readings highlighted a very interesting verse. It is in the midst of God’s selection process for a new king. God is using a prophet named Samuel and has taken a very reluctant Samuel to an estate farm in Bethlehem. Samuel is really impressed by the looks of one particular man, but God says: “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; GOD looks into the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7  The Message. Most of you know the rest of the story, God selects the who is identified by his father as “the runt” …and David is anointed King in waiting.

I am so grateful that God does things differently than the world does. Thanks to God’s selecting process He has chosen you and I. The world looks at a man or a woman…like you or I, and sees just who we are at that moment, but God looks at a man or a woman…like you or I, and sees the person that will “be”! He looked at David, a shepherd and saw a giant slaying, musician, mighty warrior, loyal friend, moral failure, accessory to murder, respected king…and man who chased after God’s heart and blessing.

Let me make another declaration: God is looking at you and I today and He sees the one that He loves, the one He has good plans for, the one who makes Him smile, the one that He has been, and is, carefully transforming into a trophy of grace! God sees the you that nobody can see!

Have a great day…and chase after His heart!
