Greetings to you in the name…the name that is above every name…of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust that all is well with you and you are enjoying March and the late winter weather – so far as you are able. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to be “the lifter of your head” and your “shelter from the storm.”
As I journey through Lent God has directed me to some thought provoking readings. One book in particular – “40 Days of Decrease” , Alicia Britt Chole – has challenged my approach to the ministry of Jesus. I believe that we all need to have our ideas challenged so that we can grow. Now with that being said, I have been pondering the whole area of “miracles” since there seems to be a need for a miracle or two in the lives of people I know.
I have been blessed to be an observer of miracles around me…and a recipient of a miracle or two myself. The author states that our biggest problem is how we perceive miracles…we want our miracles to be perpetual – to keep on being a miracle day after day. However, it seems that miracles are ‘less of a promise for tomorrow and more of a manifestation of God’s love and power for today’. I understand that…”Today, God provides bread. Today, God calms the storm.” Tomorrow might be altogether different and what happened today might not happen then…but the miracle that took place today cannot be negated. Of course, tomorrow’s miracles will be unique to tomorrow…if they take place, and if they aren’t repeated, I still have the ability to savour what took place today.
May you be blessed today!
