A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 24th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of who invites us to ‘follow’ Him and discover more than we could ever have imagined, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another day in the Kingdom – amazing! I trust that have had a good week and experienced God’s presence in your daily walk with Him. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release that which will ‘quench’ your thirst and ‘satisfy’ your hunger. This, I believe and declare’ is going to be a significant weekend for the local church!

This week I have had opportunity to interact with people and ideas. First, a fellow ‘shepherd’ made the observation that although we were lacking in people who could or would serve, although we did not have the material resources, and therefore unable to run a variety of programs … we did have – Jesus!

Another ‘shepherd’ was commenting on the spiritual condition of the Christian church – attendances down, few new people showing up, an extreme lack of youth and young adults. He voiced a concern that the Christian church is but one generation away from extinction. I chose to think a little differently because it has been that way for the last nineteen hundred or so years – we still have Jesus!

This morning God decided to remind me of a very relevant truth. He told me to look out the window and see the people walking by and understand: Every person I see is only one encounter away from following Jesus. It doesn’t matter if they are atheist or Muslim or agnostic or Hindu or have been hurt by the church – every heart is hungry for a real encounter with the living God.

The words of a chorus came to mind: Use me Lord, use me for your glory – Use me Lord, I will tell my story – Lord, I will obey, there’s no other way – Use me, use me – Lord. At the end of this week, I understand that the cure for my ‘spiritual lethargy’ is to RISK allowing God to put me into service.

Have a great weekend and be blessed!
