Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Happy March 1st! I trust that you have been able to put February to rest and are ready for the adventures of a new month. We are continuing our journey to Easter on the Lenten pathway – has anything interesting happened, have you learned some new things, is your relationship with God changing, are you more aware of your potential, are you sensing a hunger and thirst for spiritual reality, are you longing for the mystery of Easter weekend? I know, lots of questions and that is what makes Lent so unique and creates the opportunity for spiritual growth. I am praying for you, asking Father to surprise you with his presence.
This morning I am keeping an eye on what the weather is doing because the weatherman has forecast a late winter storm…and maybe March will begin like a lion. I must confess that I like checking the ‘weather channel’ on my computer. It is interesting to see how accurate the trained observers are…precipitation starting at 10:45, 10 millimetres of rain expected, 6.5 hours of sunlight, going to feel like – 20 C, or sunset at 6:48 pm. They say there is 40% chance of rain and, cynic that I am says that they are only right half the time, so is that a 20% or a 60% chance now. Nevertheless, I enjoy the forecast and appreciate those who have learned to read the signs.
I suppose that is why I Iisten to those who are making “spiritual forecasts” – they read the chart and graphs according to Scripture and watch the signs and consult with other observers and analyse the data…and then make their ‘predictions’. In fact I have been reading a few spiritual ‘weather reports’ lately and there is a prediction of an advancing weather pattern that is bringing wind, rain, and ‘suddenlies’ of bright sunshine. It seems that all this is a bit of calm before the “storm” – a change in the atmosphere. I don’t know why but I tend to have more faith in the spiritual weather forecasts.
Have a blessed day!
