A Church with a Heart for our Community

2018 February 28th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who can transform any situation, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! – the last day of February and it looks like one of those groundhogs was telling the truth! I trust that you are having a great week in the Kingdom and are excited-expectant about the new month ahead.  I will be praying for you today, asking Father to create a hunger and thirst for His presence.

Last Thursday night we were at a prayer and praise event – Encounter … what an experience! There was an awesome worship leader and band that simply surrendered themselves to God…and He used them powerfully. One of the highlights was to be taught a lesson on perspective. We were being lead in a song … Open the eyes of my heart…I want to see You…See You high and lifted up – Michael W. Smith. Now I have sung that song many times with a longing to experience something personal in my  heart…a great song to enter into worship with. However, last night the worship leader suggested that this a song of “prophetic prayer.”  How so? – because we were singing it for others! We were singing it for our family-our friends-our church-our city!

We were asking…praying…for eyes to see Jesus high and lifted up over the people and situations around us. It is an important prayer because the Scripture says that …without a vision the people perish – Proverbs 29:18. We need to see God at work in our family and friends – blessing, healing, directing, teaching, saving. We need to see God at work in our church – as we serve, minister, relate to each other, worship, pray. We need to see God at work in our city – breaking spiritual strongholds, using our politicians, protecting the vulnerable.

As we continued to sing the song, I had a new perspective of the words – to see You high and lifted up-Shining in the light of your glory-Pour out your power and love-We want to see You! I am sure that God wants me…and you, to pay close attention to what we sing…and get a vision!

May you have a blessed day!
