Greetings to you on this September morning in the name of the one who is our ‘very present help in times of trouble’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a delightful start to a new month…I trust that you were blessed in the month of August…and that this past weekend had particular delights! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to prepare you – mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually – for the fall season – a time of harvesting.
Over the past two weeks or so God has been reminding of the importance of “now” days. You, of course, know that God’s Word says…”This (today) is the day that God has created for you”. Note it doesn’t say ‘days’ or ‘months’ but ‘this day’ and I choose to think that each day is comprised of ‘moments’.
In the final devotional reading for August, I read these words: The Christian life is a journey. That means taking one step after another. Just keep going and let God have His way in you. Selwyn Hughes – Every Day With Jesus. Yes, our life as a Christian is a journey of moments – each one fitting so nicely into another, each one more important than we can ever know, each one custom-designed to reflect the beauty and plan of the Creator.
Guess what? I am reminded of a couple of songs…We have this moment to hold in our hands-And to watch as it slips through our fingers like sand-Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come-We have this moment today – Bill & Gloria Gaither … This is God’s moment, God’s moment for you-A moment so solemn, yet joyous and new-Forgiven is all sinning-Real life is beginning-For this is God’s moment for you – Salvation Army Song Book. And, there is a bit of dialogue from a television show that says this: we don’t know what might happen tomorrow, which makes every moment we do have…even more important.
Today, I think that I will pay attention to the ‘moments’ that God gives me…what about you? Have a blessed day!
