A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 30th Wednesday

Greetings to you – accepted, redeemed, forgiven, and restored by Father God in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What an awesome day – a day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! The final day of September, end of a month, ten days into the “Fall season” – are you ready? Have you made peace with the summer with all of the twists, turns, and disappointments? Are you open to finding at least six reasons each day – from now until October 12th, Thanksgiving Day – to be “thankful”? Maybe you could find a notebook and keep track of those six daily reasons for the next twelve days…imagine seventy-two “thank you’s”! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release a fresh expression of His love and concern for you…to be the “lifter of your head”…to be your refuge…to be your solid rock underneath your feet.

One of the first things I would thank God for today is good reading materials…that challenge me and provoke second and third readings. In one of my devotionals I was challenged to consider what I think is a dangerous epidemic…loneliness! I am thinking about a condition that is not about being alone but sensing a disconnect within your spirit. Did you know that in 2018 in Britain the Prime Minister appointed a “minister of loneliness” as it relates to social isolation.

There is, however, a sense that spiritual loneliness is an invitation to pursue an intimate relationship with the God who made us. It was Augustine who stated…You (God) have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in Thee.” The interesting point is that the Bible narrative declares that God wants to be with us…isn’t that something to ponder!? Beginning in the Book of  Genesis and going right through to the Book of Revelation we read how God has been at work to ‘be with us’.

Therefore, my list of six things today are:  I thank God for good reading ; and that He wants to be with me ; and that He provides relationships ; and that He gives purpose to life ; that He designed the beauty of nature ; and that He enjoys sharing good music! Have you started making your list?

something to ponder…have a blessed day!
