A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 28th Friday

Greetings in you in the name of the one who promises ‘streams of living water’ to flow from deep inside our being, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Well, the weather is proving that we have now entered a new season…and it is going to be “good!” I am trusting that you are a little excited about the days that lie ahead of us, the opportunities to learn new things as we cozy up with a hot chocolate-a good book-an oatmeal cookie…or maybe spending time with family and/or friends. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to stir your heart and spark your thinking and energize your body.

Note: this is really Thursday the 27th’s “blog” – somehow the computer did not push the ‘publish button’ for me…these computers just aren’t like they should be…however as usual God’s timing and purposes are just right!

A belated Birthday Card came yesterday and in it was a funeral card for a family member that I had not seen in almost fifty years. It is funny how time slips away!  I have been pondering and remembering…and being grateful to God for life. It has been twenty-five years or so since I last saw my little village where I grew up and I was wandering – in my thoughts – from house to house. Thanks to the internet I “googled” the village and was able to see a brief video of what things look like today. This simple experiential exercise was a blessing indeed!

So this morning I am extremely thankful to God for His faithfulness in leading me to where I am today. I thank God for: the city I live – the wife, Lindsey and the family we have – the house we share – the church I serve and worship in – the church family that I love and who loves me – the life experiences that I have survived – the measure of health and strength I have – my little four-legged daughter, Lucy – the days that are ahead – the people who enrich my life – the challenges that force me to trust my Father-God – my collection of books and music and memories – I AM SO-O-O BLESSED!

I have a sense that we all need reminders so that we can remember the blessings God engineers for us on a daily basis. So with the coming “Thanksgiving” – perhaps we need to begin making a “Thank You – God” list…and sharing it with family and friends.

Enjoy all that God sends your way…today!
