A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 7th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! I guess the weatherman was right…we went to bed in October and awakened in November – at least as far as temperatures go. However, this is still the day that the Lord has made, and we are going to rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you have had a good week and have reason to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend on a positive note. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father for a goodly measure of – health, strength, and a happy heart…may His grace, mercy, and peace cascade over you.

This morning I experienced a ‘synchronicity’ when a comment made by a visitor to our front door converged with words in an email that in turn intersected in my devotions. First, I had one of those knocks on the door that brought a conversation with people from a religious group. The well-rehearsed dialogue began with asking a question – where do you do when you need advice or counsel or direction? Now, my response was – I have a great resource called “the Bible” – we had a rather shortened visit after that but the question and answer floated around my thoughts until this morning.

This morning one of my emails caught my attention – ‘Prophetic insights for year 5783’ and so I read on to find the writer suggested three insights which he wanted to share. Usually I am a little skeptical but for some reason the insights seemed to resonate with me…and I have searching for insights for the start of the year 5783. The three statements spoke to me from what I have been learning: (1) God wants to speak to us, to meet with us (2) this will be a year of surprises, supernatural surprises (3) this will be a year of fruitfulness and accelerated growth. According to Jewish words 5783 is – “8” the doorway or entryway and “3” is retribution, the giving of what God wants you to have. So with statement one – Jeremiah 33:3, with statement two – Isaiah 55:8-9, and with statement three John 15:8…take a moment and look them up.

The next thing was that I was directed to John 14:6…I am the way, the truth, and the life and John 16:33…I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. And to complete the cycle, or maybe to challenge me, God reminded me of a few words that I had read somewhere – “there is a difference between the facts and the truth.” The facts say that this is just an assortment of coincidences but truth says “I have and know the plans I have for you.” The facts say that there is nothing anyone can do to respond to health concerns but truth says ” I am the God that healeth you.” The facts say that you are alone in your struggles but truth says “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

So – are these simply coincidences or are they God-incidences…does truth override facts..as I told my visitors – I go to the Bible, God’s word. The world may say it is impossible but the truth says…all things are possible.

Take some time…ponder – and be blessed
