A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 4th Wednesday

Good day to you in the name of the One who is a ‘never-failing friend’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom – bright sunshine and gentle breezes and blue skies! I know that every day is a day that He created…but some days it seems like He worked overtime to prepare a ‘given day’ for us to enjoy. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to ‘speak’ to you in ‘whispered tones and low’ creating a searching for more of his presence.

Tomorrow in the United States there will be many gatherings of believers promoting the National Day of Prayer. In fact there is a website and promotional material and information dedicated to this event. In Canada we will gather with a National Prayer Breakfast and a National Prayer Leadership Dinner on May 17th – 18th. This week I received a report of a Day of Prayer – ‘IT’S TIME’ in South Africa and another one in Egypt. The report says one million people gathered in South Africa and several thousand in Egypt. There is a  growing recognition that there is an intense spiritual battle taking place in our world. There is an understanding that prayer is not the ‘war’ but rather, a ‘declaration of war’ – signalling that the battles are going to be intense and costly.

The Bible offers this advice: “…IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND HEAL THEIR ;LAND. NOW MY EYES WILL BE OPEN AND MY EARS ATTENTIVE TO THE PRAYERS OFFERED IN THIS PLACE. I HAVE CHOSEN AND CONSECRATED THIS TEMPLE SO THAT MY NAME MAY BE THERE FOREVER. MY EYES AND MY HEART WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.”  2 Chronicles 7:14-16. It is time for the believers in the world to get serious about their relationship with God.

As a rule people turn to God and prayer as a last resort…I wonder what difference it might make if we turned to him before a last resort was needed. I have been part of a local prayer group for ten plus years now…once a week for just one hour. I can tell you that at this point in time there is a great expectancy in the prayers. I believe there is an understanding that God is at work and He is starting to get ‘busy’ in our community. So tomorrow – take a portion of time in your day to acknowledge your relationship with God and humbly seek His face and turn from anything that God tells you isn’t right and expect-look for His forgiveness and miraculous interventions.

Be encouraged – be blessed!
