A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 30th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a grand morning in the Kingdom…sunshine, a cool gentle breeze, and birdies singing away like crazy. This must be the day that the Lord has mad…we need to rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and are ready to say “good-bye” to May and “hello” to June…and “summer” is only three weeks away!

Today as I began my devotions, I made the mistake of taking a quick scan of daily news…our world is in need of a big hug. It is no wonder that there are so many books being published about the end of the world as we know it, that there is a turning away from the practices of faith-attending church-believing the Bible-losing one’s sense of wonder of God. Oddly enough as I turned to my reading, one of the writers stated that humanity seems to be hanging on by a thin, fragile thread.

Well, I thank God for the reminders that came from one of my devotions. The writer told of a dream she had. She appeared to be walking through a garden holding onto God’s hand. She noticed that while she held onto one hand that He seemed to be holding something in the other hand. She asked what it was and He opened his hand to reveal the world being held quite securely. It gave her peace and caused her to think of a little song from her childhood days – “He’s got the whole world in his hands!” She remembered the peace that used to give her during a few difficult moments in her life. She understood that in the midst of her busy life, she had let go of that simple, powerful truth…no matter what is happening – “He’s got the whole world…you and me brother, you and me sister, the little babies, the senior citizens…in his hands!”

And I thought of a verse written to express what was in the author’s mind and heart…”Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down…” – yes, Saint Patrick. When I read from the book of Psalms from the Passion Translation I appreciate how they relate God’s presence in our lives as – “His wrap-around love.” In these days when we are living in “last days” it is encouraging to know that we walk with the God who is in control…He really does have “the whole world in his hands!”

Have a great day…be blessed…and be aware of God’s “wrap-around love” for you!
