A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 26th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the Name above all others names, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom – warm temperatures, much-needed rain, and God hits a pause button so we can catch our breath. Yes! this is the day…not just an ordinary day, but the day that the Lord has made so that we can rejoice and be glad – take pleasure in it! I trust that you had a good long weekend and are getting this week off to a good start. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to bless you with His grace and mercy – may He release health, strength, and happiness for your heart.

Although this whole response to covid19 has played havoc with so much of our lives, we have been blessed to have worship gatherings. They are certainly not as per usual but…my opinion only…after the first couple of weeks there has been a certain richness to our worship. This year we had our Good Friday…and Easter Sunday (two of them)…and Ascension Sunday (two of them)…and Pentecost Sunday (two of them)…and we will have Trinity Sunday (two of them). So amazing for me because what I don’t get right on the first Sunday, I can correct for the next one.

Yes, this is Trinity Sunday coming and it is a unique celebration that has been on the church’s calendar since the 10th century, although it does not have the popularity of other special days. Trinity Sunday is not based around an event but a doctrine…a teaching of the church and it isn’t specifically mentioned in the Bible but the Bible is full of references to it…from Genesis to Revelation. It is as if God assumed that we did not need a doctrine for something that has always been there.

For me, the concept of the Trinity has been part of my faith journey since I sat with my family on a Sunday morning as the congregation sang…every Sunday…Holy, Holy Holy – God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Over the years I have never had to question the Trinity but I have certainly benefited from the unity and diversity of what it signifies. What a joy to be loved by the Father, forgiven by the Son, and empowered by the Holy Spirit! I am looking forward to Trinity Sunday and to celebrate the Three-in-One who touches my life…every day!

Something to ponder…have a blessed day!
