Greetings to you…fragrance of salvation, a sweet smelling aroma…in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a lovely Spring morning as the sun struggles to break through the clouds so that it can warm the earth. Yes, this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and are enjoying the new week thus far. We are excited at our home…we are going to be grandparents!…Mother Robin is sitting on her nest whilst Father is keeping a watchful eye. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to release His healing to our body, mind, spirit, and relationships..amy He guide and direct your steps…may His joy give you strength!
In my morning devotions was a phrase and a passing comment that spurred my pondering. The phrase was one that appears three times in the book of Revelation…the Lord God is referenced as the “Alpha and Omega” – Revelations 1:8; 21:6; 22:13. Even that name is expanded on…”I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” – Revelation 22:1 NIV. Further to that, God refers to himself as the first and the last twice in Isaiah – 44:6; 48:12.
The passing comment was a simple one – if all this is true, then He must be everything in between as well. Now that comment was not expanded upon and so left room to ponder. Perhaps we could write the lyrics for a song…Praise God for being everything in between – Between the first and the last – Between the beginning and the end – Yes, He is the Alpha and Omega – And everything in between! I suppose to be fair most of what we sing about and preach about and believe about concerns the God who is everything in between.
Now this made me think of another verse or two. First, in Psalm 50:10, we are told that He, God, owns the cattle on a thousand hills…so that means that He owns all the cattle in the valleys in between. As the song says…My Father is rich in houses and land – He holds the wealth of the world in His hands.
The second verse has a very personal application…because He is the God of the in between, I can believe and declare…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in me (you) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6 NIV. Whether I sense it, or can fully explain or understand it…the God of the in between is at work.
The third verse s one that gives me hope and peace and security in the times we are living in. It says…And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28 NIV. The God of the in between is working so that the “end” will be as wondrous as the beginning.
Something to ponder…have a blessed day!
