A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 3rd Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who keeps on showing the way and the truth and the life, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful late winter’s morning – another one of those days that God has made for us. I trust that you had a good week with many opportunities to laugh, enjoy positive conversation, give and receive love, and a measure of health. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to create a ‘hunger’ and a ‘thirst’ for for gathering with the Christian family this weekend as the Lenten journey continues.

This morning I am reminded that this Lenten journey that has my attention is the 48th time I have done so. It seems that when you are making a return trip to a particular destination that you are prone to remember what previous times were like. The interesting thing, to me at least, is that every year the journey is different, has its own memories. I suppose that is because each year, it is a different person who is making the trek to Calvary.

Since the Lenten journey is one of self-examination, then all the experiences and circumstances of life that one has gone through or is going through have changed the self that is being examined.  I suppose that is why that to get where you want to go on this journey there are things – attitudes, disappointments, crises and such – that have to be put aside lest they hold you back. On the other side, to keep you going, you need to keep ‘refuelling’ yourself, taking on that which is needed on the journey – love from family and friends, affirmations, acceptance and a sense of worth.

I am excited about the Lenten journey 2017 – wondering who I will meet, what I will learn about myself, what will I need to rid myself of, what will I gain to refuel me, what new experience of God’s love will manifest, and how will God use me for His glory. I pray that your Lenten journey will bring closer to the God who loves you.

Be blessed – have a grand weekend!
