A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 2nd Tuesday

Greetings to you…my fellow traveler on the Lenten road, in the name of the one whose love compels us to take this journey, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful winter’s morning in the Kingdom! This must be the day that the Lord has made for us and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday. I pray that your week is off to a good start and that you are aware of God’s presence around you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to – bless you and keep you, to smile upon you and be gracious unto you, to look you full in the face, and to bless you with satisfaction.

A few days ago I shared about Lent and the shadow of the cross…created by the “light” that shines from it. This morning, as the journey to Easter continues, I have noticed something. The closer to Calvary we come…the more defined the shadow becomes. I  suppose that as we draw close the more real the scene becomes and once more we realize the enormity of what took place and we know how much we depend on the nearness of God. I can hear the words of the song…The darkness deepens, O Lord with me abide.

I think of all the songs we sing at Easter, songs that evoke such powerful memories, and I must say that I am looking forward to singing them once more. What is your favorite Easter song or maybe it is hard to choose. I think it depends on the emotions of the moment…The Old Rugged Cross or When I Survey or Draw Me Nearer or On A Green Hill Far Away – powerful songs because of the power that will be experienced once again at Calvary.

Even though the shadow becomes more defined, the darkness more pronounced, the closer we come…something else is taking place. The shadow is getting smaller and soon it will disappear altogether…and that is when the miracle of transformation takes place. I am thinking of a song or two at this point…O that’s the place where I long to be-For mighty wonders there I see-Would you be blessed-Then tarry with me-At the cross of Jesus — On that day when freed from sinning-I shall see Thy lovely face-Clothed then in blood-washed linen-How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace.

Something to ponder – have a blessed day!
